TOULA FACE
Toula Face reconstructs a portrait from twenty-two individual resin layers derived from a single photograph. Each layer isolates a tonal value, from the darkest shadow to the lightest highlight, transforming a flat image into a three-dimensional object. Suspended within resin, the layers exist simultaneously as photograph, sculpture, and archive. As the viewer moves around the work, the portrait continuously assembles and dissolves, making perception dependent on position rather than permanence.
