Anastasia Maxime Solodov is a Russian-American multidisciplinary artist, art historian and curator based in Paris. Working across sculpture, installation, embroidery and moving image, her practice examines how memory, identity and authority become embedded in objects, images, spaces and everyday behaviour.

Developed between Russian, American and Western European contexts, her work is shaped by the coexistence of competing cultural narratives. Solodov approaches identity not as fixed or coherent, but as something formed through inherited symbols, personal archives and political histories. Her earlier projects explored memory through domestic objects, landscape, material decay and preservation; more recently, this research has expanded towards the institutions and collective myths that organise contemporary life.

Religion, nationalism, medicine, technology and surveillance appear in her work as interconnected structures that produce rituals, establish authority and shape what is recognised as truth. Through substitution, repetition and material displacement, Solodov examines how these systems continue to influence behaviour even after their original promises have become unstable.

Her work asks what survives when belief weakens, what emerges in its place, and why familiar structures of authority continue to be reproduced.
